It has been kept open to the public while repairs are being done to preserve the building for future generations to enjoy the majesty of the historic site. To promote the charms of Dōgo Onsen which is said to be the oldest hot springs in Japan, the Dōgo Reborn Project has been highlighting "Hi no Tori, the Phoenix" which Osamu Tezuka considered his life's work. In addition, on February 1st, 2019, the old entrance of Ni-no-Yu from the Meiji era, that was used by Soseki Natsume, reopened. On the top of the quaint karahafu roof, the statue of the Phoenix from the Dōgo Reborn Project is placed and a lighting-up by NAKED, with the theme of "Revitalization of Japanese culture," has begun.

There was also orange juice from a tap offered.
Approximately 12,000 people visited the exhibition during the five days.
Some visitors were taking pictures of the original giant nameboard that was on the Dōgo Onsen Honkan, the onigawara roof tile, and the large diorama, while others were looking at Ehime's various traditional craftwork in the Asuka-no-Yu area or lining up for orange juice from a tap. At the beginning of the first day, Wednesday, March 27th, Mayor of Matsuyama Katsuhito Noshi, director of Tezuka Productions Rumiko Tezuka, and voice actress from Ehime - Nana Mizuki who was casted in the original animation "Hi no Tori, the Phoenix: Dōgo Onsen Chapter" which is currently in production, attended the press conference. They announced the production of the new animation "Hi no Tori, the Phoenix: Dōgo Onsen Chapter" which features Dōgo Onsen and Osamu Tezuka's "Hi no Tori, the Phoenix" and revealed that Nana Mizuki voices the Phoenix.

Speaking about taking a role of the Phoenix and how she felt after the recording, Nana Mizuki said, "The Phoenix is a presence beyond human understanding. She has been reincarnated numerous times and involved with many different people and events in history. She is filled with love so could embrace everything. But she could harsh sometimes. I was very nervous going into the studio, wondering if I could express such magnanimousness that calmly watches over everything. The difficulty of this role was like no other."

Katsuhito Noshi, the mayor of Matsuyama, noted that the Dōgo Onsen Honkan is a public bathhouse that has been designated as an Important National Cultural Asset and it is a treasure of Japan and of the world. People from all over the world come to visit it. He added that it has been kept open while repairs are being done to preserve the treasure for future generations to enjoy and expressed his firm resolve to continue with the project.

Ms. Rumiko Tezuka from Tezuka Productions proudly stated that she is one of Dōgo Onsen's fans and showed her ardent support on the business operations like the animation and lighting-ups which can be enjoyed during the time of preservation and repair by saying, "It is for a limited time until Hokan is revived so I want people to visit here during this time to experience how great the combination of 'Hi no Tori, the Phoenix' and Dōgo Onsen because they'll never be able to see it like this again."

The prologue of the animation titled "Ōkuninushi and Sukunahikona" and the first episode "Prince Shōtoku's Visit" are planned to be streamed on YouTube and other video-sharing websites on May 24th. It is announced that it boasts an all-star cast. Besides Nana Mizuki as the Phoenix, actor Takeshi Tsuruno plays Ōkuninushi and voice actress Suzuko Mimori takes the role as Sukunahikona. Dōgo Onsen, the famous hot spring with 3,000 years of history.
You can enjoy the bathing rooms which are reminiscent of Meiji 27 (A.D.1894),
when it was last renovated.
The stone bathing rooms adorned with Tobe porcelain panel paintings
and the baths with their large column-shaped water spouts called yugama are representative of the Dōgo Onsen Honkan's unique appeal.
